Day Seven

I have a problem.

This pattern almost always causes unavoidable damage 😵‍💫 it’s a really pretty pattern, and I like the way it makes the player move, but unavoidable damage is not good for a game like this.

So what can we do?

The obvious option is to tweak the numbers to make it actually possible. However, that’s not actually going to guarantee that the player will never take damage… okay while writing this I carried on tweaking the values and I found a solution that's visually interesting and is actually doable 😂

A better solution would probably be to use maths to work out where those impossible points would be, and rotate/offset the bullet spawning so it's always possible. Alas, maybe I'll do that some other day. For now, this works and took a lot less time, leaving me with a bit of free time to sort the other minor hexagon issues.

What’s next?

I'm almost done cleaning up the hexagon into a release-worthy state. Once that's finished and I've tweaked the “win” and “game over” screens, I'll release the final demo!

I hope you enjoyed reading about my Polyfury progress. If you have any questions or thoughts, please feel free to leave a comment below. Thanks for reading, and maybe check out the demo:
