Day Ninety Four

First day of the final crunch! I will sleep well tonight…

Today I have done so much, and I can’t even remember most of it 😉 it has been a blur, fixing bugs, adding content here and there, starting the Octagon - it is once again a completely unique boss, feels completely different to all of the others.

The tetrapod also hit alpha testing today, which means Monday’s beta test will have all but the last boss. It’s a tough one, but hot damn is it fun. I’m getting better as using bullets to force the player to move, and having lots of overlapping patterns generally just feels great:

The big wide red circle centred on a position on the ring forces you to move away from that spot, while the yellow lines stop you moving too far, which means you pretty much always get caught in the pink bullets that put you into the correct position for the next pattern. There’s a nice big gap in the red circles for you to travel in near the player, and the symmetry of the pattern means there’s another gap opposite where the player is here, which allows you to get behind the pattern if you’re on a controller. It’s not a required move, but if you can pull off what is a pretty difficult trick, you’re rewarded with a bit more room to breathe and a clearer shot at the boss.

What’s next?

More octagon! Content complete soon :D
